On a quest for knowledge!
I have reinstalled XP onto a MSI mobo(ms-6787 ver 2) Running an Intel Celeron:)eek: ) 2.4GHZ. Western Digital HDD 80GB, and 256 SDR Ram:)rolleyes: )

Or at least .....attempted to:-

The setup disk goes fine right upto the stage where the PC reboots and continues to load XP, When the XP logo appears with the scrolling blue bar, it just freezes and won't go any further:confused: . The setup disk I was using was one with SP2 intergrated, however the PC before I started reinstall was running only SP1 on FAT32:eek: , So I had the idea of using an old XP setup disk I had (without intergrated SP2) and it loaded up fine:) .

I then grabbed my SP2 setup disk with I got free(yes free) from M$ about 2-3 years ago. It installed and requested restart, when I restarted the system, it froze again at the same point as before:confused:  !!!

Is there a MOBO issue here or could it be the HDD ? I'm still puzzled as to why it was running FAT32 and not NTFS:confused:

Was there a version of XP YEARS back that ran on FAT32 or what!!!

It's a BLOODY old system I'm repairing(it's a "TINY" PC  .

Any Ideas people????

The customer is coming to pick it up on Wednesday    .
******************UPDATE************************
Don't worry lads n lass's,- I've Reflashed the BIOS, Installed some MOBO drivers and other bits and the customer said he's more than happy with it.

Thanks for your input though guys:rolleyes:
