I purchased a brand new Pc.

Asus P4P800-VM mobo
P4 3GHz
512 mb Ram

When i insert a flash drive (512 mb) in the USB port, it gives a message

"Hi speed usb device inserted into non-hi speed usb port"

I use windows xp and have installed xp service pack 1a.

still i get the message.

Please help me.

1. check your USB drivers r properly installed
2. Reinstall the flash Drive's driver (if any)

now try again
if it is still failing, try it on some other pc, just to check your Flash drive

i have the same mobo and asus has made a fool of us all. It said that it has all usb 2.0 ports but only two ports are usb 2 complient rest are 1.1 so if you connect the thumb in the rear ports they are 1.1 and will get the message the mobo port is the 2.0 one connect a usb headder to it and use it. Also enable full speed in bios.
