problem in installing vlc in my mandriva spring 2007

when i am try to install the vlc media player in mandriva spring 2007,i have faced following errors.
configure: error: could not find libavcodec or libavutil. Use --disable-avcodec to ignore this error.
what can i do?where can i get the codecs.please help me.
