Price vs Performance - 2011 vs 2014

The Sandy Bridge i5-2500K used to cost Rs. 12000 back in 2011.

The Haswell i5-4670K costs Rs. 16500 in 2014.

Haswell is only ~8-10% faster than Sandy Bridge - clock to clock.

The price difference doesn't justify the performance. Doesn't matter what the dollar rate is.

We're paying more for meagre performance increase.

and haswell has pathetic overclocking performance too. and it is all intel's monopoly. unless amd comes with some magic, intel will price higher subsequent processors for sure.

But the similar case is with the purchasing power of the current generation. In a country where you can afford to buy a 50k phone you can see that we can easily afford many component compared to past.
