^^ Are these LEDs for for room lighting? I have been for some time looking for LED lighting arrays as replacements for existing fluorescent lighting for my rooms. I shall be glad to have a cue, particularly for their availability in local market in Kolkata.

PS: Found one

Yes, these are actually for lighting purposes. I've been experimenting with LED's for quite some time now and have designed lights using regular 5 & 8 mm LED's. I got 5 of these ultra bright LED's and driver circuits some time back, out of which three LED's died while experimenting. It was a quite a blow as at that point of time each LED costed around to Rs. 22 and that too after applying an ebay discount coupon of Rs. 100, so, I again moved to regular 8 mm led's. With the current batch of LED's I'm targetting to replace the 5 mm led lamps I've put up at places like Bathrooms & staircases in my home, and will replace CFL Lamps in places like the kitchen & on the roof.
The LED tube light doesn't look promising, as what I can see is that it uses regular 5 mm led's which are cheaper, but not that efficient at providing light than the ultra bright ones. Alternatively, you can get yourself LED Lamps from brands like Philips & Osram, which, though are expensive, over the course of time, will save enough money for you.

^^ Thanks a lot for the detailed reply, particularly thanks for warning me about the LED Tubelights that I almost fell for. Now, let's see if I can locate any retail outlet selling 8 mm Philips or Osram LEDs. Thanks again!

Sadly you won't get any SMD LEDs at chandni.
I've searched the whole chandni and exert street, before buying ~50 of them along with 15 the same kind of drivers ordered by CyberKID.

Had pre-ordered F1 2012 from FK on 20th Aug. Game was released on 21st Sept 2012 . FK shipped it on 27th Sept. Mrp 999 , bought it for Rs 899, as FK had an offer.

You will like the game only and only if you are a die hard Formula 1 fan like me :)

OT : Does anyone from this forum play F1 online ?

Hmm! That rules out Chandni and narrows down my search. Thanks for that. However, where is "exert street"? Do you mean Ezra Street? That would be bad because that is the only other place that I was planning to search.

^ You can always go to ebay.in. There are literally 100's of options available on ebay, so, I think there shouldn't be any problems in buying from there. There's one seller Cyberspectrum, particularly located in Kolkata, you can check it out with him.

Yeah, Ezra street. Firefox auto-correct screwed the name 0f that post up.
The only option I know of is ebay. The main problem in Kolkata is nobody is interested in DIY electronics, specially LED lighting.

Although you can search those places again. It may happen that I missed some shops who stocks SMD LED.

I think, check out Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - Worldwide Free Shipping - DX for some driver circuits, or if you're adventurous enough, and can get your hands dirty with designing a circuit, do a google search and i hope instructables is the best place for this. I haven't tried working up with Power LED's as the risk involved is too much.
