Right off the assembly line
When i turn on the computer all i see are verticle lines of different colors in parallel across the entire screen. The power supply and monitor work fine and the video card isnt too old... any thoughts?
Thanks!

Try degaussing you moniter. If this doest not help ..than ur graphice card is having some problem. If this is a graphics card probelm..than All you need is to get a new cheap graphics card(very low end).

Also check the graphics setting in the control panel.

Most probably it's a gpu issue, but try reseating the ram as well.....I've seen many strange problems with (loose) ram sticks.

its been a while since ive felt familiar with some of the hardware lingo :)
The PC im talking about is running windows XP, i have 1 gb ram, 3.0ghz hyperthreading P4, and a relatively new 128mb nvidea card because the old one craped out. The screen works fine, im actually using it right now on another PC so i know the problem lies in the case somewhere. I have recently cleaned the dust out with a can of air and put a different hard drive in with the exact same result when i hit the on button. In addition, i made sure everything is attached properly to the motherboard. The screen instantly shows verticle lines without showing any text whatsoever.
PS What is seeding the ram mean?
Thanks guys!

High without substance...
there could only be one reason, a faulty graphic card. Take the card out and then try. mostly its the card, Motherboards usually do not go bad easly, provided that there was high voltage to it.

awesome, i'll run to bestbuy or walmart and buy a new card for it... if it doesnt work i'll just return it lol im suprised it would be that though, it would mean the computer has shot out 2 cards in like a 9 month period
