I have the following Pc config:::

512 Mb geforce 6600GT graphics card.
2 modules of 1 GB RAM.
AMD athlon 2600+.
Asus motherboard.

The problem is that whenever i run a relatively old game like age of empires, quake 3, crashday, etc my PC hangs within 2 minutes. But this is not a overheating problem because, GPU temp. is around 45 degrees under load and CPU temp. is around 60 degrees under load. But i can play new games like F.E.A.R, Crysis etc for upto an hour. I have the AGP fastwrite enabled.

I upgraded to the above mentioned configuration some days ago. Befor that i had 5200 FX graphics card and 512 MB RAM. There were no problems with those components. Please help me solve this problem!!!:x:x:confused::confused:

60 degs sounds a bit hott, my athlon 2800+ used to show ~5o degs or less @ idle thats too, hott. try installing an exaust fan at rear.

there may b driver issues with ur gfx cards , update it from nvidia / gfx card company site. test with latest , then olders step by step to see if it runs those games stable.

But i had no such problems with my previous configuration. even then the temperature reached 60 degrees.

Its surely is a driver problem i think, if the problem is with older games only. But if it happens with all games then check for the power rating of your power supply. It may be not adequate for your new graphics card.

Check the following:
1. Latest GE Force Drivers.
2. Upgrade DirectX 9c to latest.
3. Power supply connections -- is it adequate for your setup.

Your temperatures (even under load) are in the all right band. Also try to re-seat your RAM modules. Are they of same density....OR you can try running your system on each module individually to systematically troubleshoot the RAM. Run it on 1 GB ...then run it singularly on just the 2nd module.

Best of luck..!
