My observation is that by default most of the motherboards come with sound output routed to back panel.
You may have to set the jumpers to route it to front ports. Check the manual to know the jumper settings. Plus ensure that the cabinet's front audio sockets are connected to the motherboard's front panel audio headers. Some cheap cabinets do come with front audio sockets but the wiring & connectors that can connect it to the motherboard is missing.
