I have
1)Intel core 2 duo E7300@2.66GHZ
2)Msi P45 Neo 3 Fr motherboard
3)Zion 2.5 gb(DDR2@667Mhz)
4)Coolermaster Etreme power 500 W psu
5)Xfx 8600 gt

Now i want to upgrade Graphics card, power supply,Cabinet and 2gb of ram.
I have shortlisted this:-
Graphics card-Sapphire Ati HD 5770 1GB ddr5
Psu-Corsair VX 550(choosing for future upgrade)
cabinet-CM elite 430
Ram-Corsair 2gb@DDR2 800mhz(will it works with 667Mhz ram?)
Fan-1 led cm 120mm and 3 normal cm 120mm.
Please tell me this upgrade is good or not?

What The.... !!!
very balanced and well thought upgrade plan!
you are good to go!!

yes the Corsair 2gb ddr2 800MHz ram would work with 667MHz RAMS(but Zion!! really?why?) already present,
but the frequency will get downclocked to 667 MHz
don't worry you wont notice any difference while gaming

the choice of PSU and cabinet is stellar :)

but if you have got 3k extra why not go for MSI GTX 460 1gb cyclone?
you can give that a thought!! :)

better go for 4Gb 800Mhz ram. also your processor can be OC to 3Ghz on stock cooler with minimum effort. try to do it.
GTX460 will require extra cooling. need add more fans. if you really not in hurry, why not wait for GTS450?

^^GTS 450 is a nice idea
who knows it may outperform 5770 and still available @9k or something
its gonna be a really good deal

we just have to pray to god that it shouldn't have any heating issues

Will 4Gb 800 mhz ram will boost extra performance?I am thinking 1gbx2 800 mhz and 1gbx2 667mhz(already have).I have a 4 ram slot.
I don't know how to oc!!!
My 8600 gt went kaput so i have no display. My motherboard has no IGP.
So i need graphics card urgently.

pairing 667 & 800 RAM may be risky as in the system may become unstable. buy the RAM. if the system becomes unstable, sell the old RAM & buy new matched ones.

Guys please tell me what card should i go for Sapphire HD 5770 1 GB ddr5 or Msi GTX 460 1 gb ddr5?

Lanaya
if budget permits then go for 460
else go for 5770 ,it wont dissapoint u either

but i'll suggest u to go for 5770 and spend the rest of the money on rams and other upgrades

Swimming, eh??
Sure enough the 460 performs better than 5770, but spendin 3k for increase in few notches fps is not worth it.
If you really want a killer gcard, then go for something that is in the range of 15-16 k.
Or else the 5770 is enough.

& would you be settling for sapphire, cuz msi hawk 5770 looks like an excellent product.

5770 is a good card for 9k. no mistakes in selecting that one

about the RAM, it's not necessary that the system will become unstable. So the op should buy the 800 Mhz RAM coz 667 Mhz won't be available anyways. But I'd say if 667 Mhz is available, buy that only. That way there is more certainty. half the performance boost that could have come from the increase in frequency is offset by the slower timings anyways. Also, even if there is no problem after pairing them, the 800 Mhz will run at 667 Mhz only. So enquire for 667 Mhz. If not available then only buy 800 Mhz.
And after that if there are problems, sell the older ones (667 ones) and buy a fresh pair (800 Mhz).
