hi friends....

iam having a desktop of intel chipset 946 gzts motherboard,
intel 3.4 GHz duo processer ,
1 GB ram,
L2 and 2 Mb cache,
160 GB HDD,
LG dvd R+W.

and iam using windows XP SP2 operating system....
but my pc working slowly, while opening pages n movies etc... compare to my friends pc having less configuration.
iam thinking that these problem is due to mother board is not supporting to 3.4GHz duel core processor.
plz any suggest to improve my pc speed, n which mother support to that configuration...
thank u in advance....:)

I doubt it is a problem with hardware...First of all 946 motherboard supports Pentium D processors...anywayz first Press Windows+R key & type msconfig & click on STARTUP tab & uncheck programs which u dont want to start with windows...Next is Defragment all your hard disk partitions...Dont use Windows Defragmentor...Use Raxco Perfect DIsk...Try these 2 steps & it might make a difference

It may de due to some memory hog antivirus OR a firewall(Like NAV)

Try scaning your PC for any Virus Infections with an UPDATED antivirus

Also try removing unwanted entries form startup i.e. mconfig startup list
See this page for help regarding startup list
*www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

world is evil
defragment ur drives.that surely will give u some boost bcoz ur prob is dat files open slowly,u don hv a prob of slow start up.
if u hv slow startup also, den clear up start up entries from msconfig as told above n use av wch are kind on memory.dat is change if ur using nav, mcafee or d likes.
