PC upgrade query...urgent

Hi all, My friend wants to upgrade his proccy,mobo and ram...
He shortlisted the following items..
Phenom X2 560BE@5k
Asus M4A87TD @ 4.9k
Corsair 2x2GB DDR 3 @2.3k.....
Does the proocy n mobo really worth the money...?
Please tell other options if needed... Budget for the three is 12-13k..

^^ Get a quad core like amd athlon 2 x4 640 . More future proof than a dual core cpu.

@manujohn, but do remember the board have no IGP. so your friend should have a discrete graphics card.

@vickybat : What about unlocking the 2 cores and use it as a quad core..? Does it overperform Athlon 2 X4 640 in gaming.?

@sam : He has a 9400GT .. What about getting a 880g mobo with onboard ATI HD 4250 and use it along with the 9400GT.? Do this give better graphics than the non IGP mobo+9400GT.?
Pls suggest...

^^ unlocking isn't recommended. you may fail to unlock even a single core. then? better take the safe route.

& the IGP of 880G is almost as powerful as 9400GT. better sell it off. get a 880G based board. also if using 9400GT, IGP will be turned off.
