1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A: This PC will be primarily used as a virtual lab using Hyper-v. In the virtualized enviroment I will use products like Exchange Server 2007/2010, Windows Server 2003/2008, Redhat Linux etc.

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: Yes

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 30K

4. Planning to overclock?
A: No

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 (dual boot)

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 500 GB

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want?
A: For now I will use my old 15" CRT at 1024x768

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 5

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: Yes I have built few systems in past

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: in next 30 days

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: yes

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: Monitor, DVD drive, UPS, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers

13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: I am in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. If I don't get the componets here I'll prefer to order it online so please suggest some reliable online shops.

14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: As I will be using 3-4 virtual machines at a time I want 8GB of RAM with room for upgradability (will prefer to install single module of 8GB).
I will buy a 22" HD monitor and a mid range GPU in 3-4 months for casual gaming and HD movies.

I have shortlisted the some components, please suggest.
AMD Phenom II X4 945
MSI 880GMA E45
Corsair VX450W
COOLER MASTER Elite 310
WD 500GB blue

I know I am expecting too much in 30K, but you have to help me. :p

As you're going to do a lot of virtualization, i would suggest the following -

AMD phenom ii x6 1055t @ 10k
Gigabyte 880GM UD2H @ 4.5k
2*4GB DDR3 1333MHz G.Skill ripjaws RAM @ 9.6k
corsair vx 450 @ 3.7k or FSP saga 500W @ 2.2k(depending on gfx card)
WD caviar blue 500GB @ 1.8k
NZXT Gamma @ 2k
Total - 30.1k/31.6k

You may order them from Welcome to SMC International.
