PC shuts down automatically

Right off the assembly line
Now a days my Computer is sufering from peculiar problem ..as its shuts down

automatically without any prior notice or error mesage.
it usually happens while i work over office 2003 word application with IE7 with

more then 5 tabs...it it sounds very rubbish ...

1 .I replaced my UPS but the problem is still there...

2. checked the CPU fan and its giving the regular performance. ( i got only CPU

fan installed in system as no System Fan is available ...as no AC installed in

the room i work under room tmeperature but never experienced this for past 2

yrs.

3. checked each and every plug or socket ..everything functioning normally.

wht u guys think do i nned to install another system Fan or its software

failure...

do leeme know as its troubling me a lot..?/???


System Configuration
XP Home -Service Pack 2 Original
HCL -x86 based PC
Memory: 256 MB
Page File -606 MB
Hardisk -40 GB only( 2 Partitions ) 1 GB free

Go to System Properties (Right click on My Computer and select Properties), go to Advanced Tab and select Settings Button in 'Startup and Recovery' section. Deselect the check box for Automatically Restart here... Now, you should get an error message before restart happens... Note the error message and post here....

Also, it may be possible that this happens due to dust in RAM module, failing RAM module, overheating, etc... You might want to check for these too...

its not about restart ,its just shuts down automatically .....

HI friend
this is the cause of " smps". just check wheather it working properly or not and its fan should runs smothly .if it is not working properly or damaged just get it repaired or it will be better to purchage new smps . instade of installing win2003 office , install office xp. then give the reply.

i installed AC in room ,and now computer is functioning normally...

it shuts down completely...and doesn';t respond...for a 1/2hr..till it cools off....tell me how to check CPU temp..and wht's the normal temperature of CPU
