PC hangs..after inserting CD in drive

Off lately I have discovered something…every time I insert a CD into the CD ROM Drive... the Hard disk and subsequently the entire PC hangs….the only option is the RESET key!
It’s LG DVD Writer. Win XP SP2.

The only way it now works is I restart the PC and before windows loads..insert the CD into the drive.
Any thoughts what is going wrong would be great...Thx.

i too have this problem on my LG DVD Writer (on vista) when i try the same disk on my Sony DVD writer it reads it properly!!
