1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:As the title says,gaming and gaming alone.Which include- GTA IV with Icenhancer 2.1/forthcoming 2.5,Max Payne 3,Crysis 1 with mods(maybe 2 if it does not have origin),L.A.Noire,Shift 2 Unleashed,Mafia II,plus others like GTA 5.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:36 Thousand Rupees. No.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:Yes.Mildly at first until I can afford a better GPU(See config below.)

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:Microsoft Windows 8 System builder 64-bit (Current).

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:If possible, would like to swap the Hard drive from my current configuration of 500 GB internal and 1 TB external. Is it possible?

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:No,I plan on using the monitor I currently have (HP with 1600x900 resolution.)

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:Except for the Processor,Motherboard,RAM and PSU,everything (Not much is left :p )--Mouse,Keyboard,Monitor,Speakers,Headset,Steering Wheel,Cabinet (Generic HP),Hard disk,GPU (AMD Radeon HD 6850).

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:After about a week or if better deals are on the horizon, after March, when PC prices supposedly drop (?).

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:No.Assembler.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Will buy online from COD Shops or from Nehru Place in Delhi.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Proposed Configuration:
AMD FX 8350 @ 12507 (Flipkart)
Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3 RAM x2 @ 5700 (Nehru place)
Corsair TX 850 V2 @ 8500 (Flipkart)
Gigabyte GA 880GM USB3L @5163 (Flipkart)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO @2191 (Flipkart)
Total - 34061 (Plus I do not know the cost which it will take to get it assembled ).
-Will not upgrade for at least 3 years, even better 4 years.

The rig you've mentioned has many problems:

Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3 RAM x2 @ 5700 (Nehru place) 16 GB is overkill for gaming, even 4 Gb is enough. Go for >4 GB only if you can afford and >=16 GB only when doing serious work (not gaming)
Corsair TX 850 V2 @ 8500 (Flipkart) 850 W PSU is mother of overkills for this config. A 600 W psu is also more than enough.

My suggesstion:

fx 8350 (11000)
Asus M5A97 (6900)
G.Skill sniper (prices of ripjawsX have increased. sniper is just ripjawsx with smaller heat spreader) 4 GB 1600 MHz (1700)
Corsair GS500 (4000)
Sapphire hd7850 (14000)

total: 37600

you can use your older HDD if it's a SATA drive.

I should have added -- I won't be upgrading at all in the next 3 years, except in the event something goes bad....,I already have 4 GB of DDR2 Ram and use/will use my PC for photo and Video editing ,but on very few instances, when the mood seizes me.:) As for the PSU (haha, mother of overkills :D ),I know it's a bit over the top but I read that the more powerful a PSU is, (forgive me if it sounds stupid ;) ),lesser are the chances of it BSOD-ing due to lack of power, which my current PC does...So,is the TX 750 a more sensible option?

And coming to the GPU,one thing is final,I want it to be more than 1GB in the VRAM department, for GTA IV with Ice runs out of VRAM in my Current config...an hd 7850 2Gb costs 16k,which is a bit of a turn off at the current moment.:) Thanks for replying.:)

The config I've mentioned (even with cpu overclocked to 5 GHz) will consuke about 420 W MAX, so a 500 W psu is more than sufficient.

You'r DDR2 ram is of no use in new motherboards, better keep it with you and sell it after 70-80 years to earn some grands :D

BSOD's may occur due to lack of power, but with a 500 W PSU (and that being Corsair), you are completely safe.

Asus HD7850 2 GB is available for 14k at mdcomputers. Don't let just afew ks spoil a good config, as you won't be upgrading for much time.

Alright alright,I get your drift.:D Sorry for being a :noob: about PSUs and well, about the rest of the config too :D .And I did not mean that I would use the DDR2 RAM that I have currently...I meant that I already have 4GB and want something better than that which will last for some time to come... :D :)chinscratch: do you think a museum will pay a good price for that DDR2 RAM within the next 70-80 years?)

Ok,so tone down the PSU?Check. But what is unchecked is the GPU,I have an HD 6850 and plan to upgrade when HD 8k series is launched for waiting at least two generations seems okay,(I think),but of course ,I am open to better suggestions.:)

If you Plan on getting a new GPU later then get this -
I5 3570K @ 14K
ASUS P8Z77 M PRO @ 10.5K Gskill RipJAWSx or Sniper 8 GB @ 3K
Corsair 650TX V2 @ 6k
Total @ 33.5k.
Save some cash now and get a Powerful GPU later when 8xxx Series Arrive ...
If you want you can get Cooler Master Hyper 212+ Evo @ 2k.

I would suggest fx 8350. Seeing the trends in game engines, more and more newer games scale good on multiple cores. Also, a good z77 mobo would cost more. OP can get FX 8350 (it's not **** in gaming) and get a better gpu.

+1 for FX-8350. You'll save some money on CPU + Mobo with AMD for comparable perfromance, which can be used for upgrading your GPU later.

AMD stock cooler are much better and will support mild OC too.

Hahaha Before you  ,let me explain.

>-1) 16Gb RAM was something I was adamant on,because I had heard that GTA IV +ICEnhancer 2.1 + car packs needs as much RAM as you can lay your hands on.But I did not have enough to go for a new GPU for sufficient VRAM (read GTX 660 Ti,most probably),so RAM was cheaper.;)

>-2)I wrote earlier that I would go for the HD 8*** Series (Or GTX 760 for that matter) because I would at least wait for two Generations of GPUs before Upgrading. And that is what I am going to do.

>-3)Why Asrock is something that I can't answer because I do not have much experience in Motherboards.I just went for something that had Ok specifications and was Ok-ish in pricing. :)

>-4)TX 750 V2 was out of stock on Flipkart and I prefer that website.

Hope now you will not  . ;) :D

I know the first point is Dumb. :D

You spend probably 7k for running GTA IV +ICEnhancer 2.1 + car packs? If you are theist, then god be with you.

I did write that GTA IV+ICe 2.1+car packs was going to be my first priority, but they are not my Only priority.I also wrote- ,I already have 4 GB of DDR2 Ram and use/will use my PC for photo and Video editing ,but on very few instances, when the mood seizes me. I do not want my system hanging due to lack of RAM,as I have been doing both quite frequently now and which my previous system was ,unfortunately doing on more than a couple of occasions.I was also going to try Crysis 1 with Mods and 2 maybe as well, with mods.Plus I also wrote-

-Will not upgrade for at least 3 years, even better 4 years.

I don't think 16Gb RAM will look out of place 2 years from now.

If you did not buy HD 6850 now , its Okay. But 1 thing is that 16 GB RAM is completely waste for gaming whatever the game is......
8 GB would have been a perfect one. Congratz on your new build.

Thank you,Sainatrajan for congratulating me for my new build. :) I understand that 16GB is excessive for gaming. My line of thinking while buying it was based on a comment in a tech article I had read.Even though I have forgotten where the article was from, but I do remember the exact words that said - '' 8GB seems to be the average for a PC gamer nowadays ''. I thought to myself - If 8 GB is required to play a game with mods at a constant 60FPS in the present time, maybe future games with mods would require more RAM.And since I was getting a product worth 9043 Rs. for 6783 Rs. from Flipkart, which is cheaper than Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMZ8GX3M2A2133C11R) on Flipkart (6820 Rs.),I thought-Why Not? ;) :)
