Hi
I would like to know if it is possible to assemble a NEW pc for Rs 10000 with parts available in the market. I live in Mangalore.

Rough Configuration:

Processor (anything PIII equivalent or above)
Motherboard (integrated graphics, audio)
RAM 256 MB
Hard disk 40 GB (or 80, the price difference is not much)
Cabinet with SMPS
Speakers
CD-ROM drive
15" Colour Monitor
FDD 1.44"

Any advice will be much appreciated. Here PCs cost a bomb :-S
I'll get the parts from Bangalore and assemble myself if required.
Thanks in advance

Hmm Add a 4 thosuand more and i guess you will get a decent config of PIV with 512MB and 80b hardrive :)

The cost of a UPS@ Rs. 2000 will add to the cost. So I don't want to add 4000. A PIII equivalent will do, this pc is not for audio or video encoding or gaming. Do you know what a market is there for such PCs! There are so many who just want a PC for word processing and mail and surfing.

You know I remember reading sometime back hcl offering a basic pc for Rs 10000, tax and delivery extra, no UPS. Why buy a P4, new or second hand when you don't need one

On my local cable TV channel (which shows new pirated movies:D) they air an ad in which PCs worth rupees 8K are available. They are P3s + 80GB + 15" CRTmonitor. Rest I am not able to recall.
So I think a sub 10K PC should be possible. I dont think they give a UPS with the main rig.

Sounds like what I am having in mind. Like I said there are people who only want a pc for word processing, web browsing, listening to music and maybe reading a book, and are using celerons, X2s, core duos and what not to do just that!

Sempron 3000+ (AM2) : Rs 1450
Mobo MSI-K9MM-V : Rs 2500
256MB DDR RAM : Rs 950
80GB Seagate HDD : Rs 1800
CD ROM : Rs 700
FDD : Rs 280
Speakers : Rs 300
Keyboard : Rs 200
Mouse : Rs 150
Cabinet + SMPS : Rs 800
UPS : Rs 1600
15" monitor : Rs 4000

Total : Rs 10730

Thats the lowest I can think of.

Getting a second hand one will be a better idea. You can get a higher config at less than Rs 10K.
