P67 Motherboard confusions

The "Finger of God"
Hey all,

So I am deciding to assemble a kick ass Gaming Computer.

Here is my dilemma, I am going for Intel Core i7 2600k and as such came down to TWO contenders for the mobo -
1) Asus Maximus 4 Extreme
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards - ASUS Maximus IV Extreme

2) Asus P8P67 PRO
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards - ASUS P8P67 PRO

I am definitely be going to OC this setup and not much bothered regarding B3 steppings since I will just be using SATA 3 Drives.

What I am looking for is your valued input and thoughts regarding in the matters of OC and will also be going SLI - in few months with GTX 580, future stability, as in Ivy Bridge Processor switch later on.

I also read about Z68 chipset, but I am sure it will be after only June we get to see mobo based on that. Plus with all the world natural disasters and crazy stuff happening around, I cant hardly hold my breathe on this chipset.

So will really appreciate all the help I could get in this matter,

Thanks all and Warm Regards,
Sohail.

First, you got to start this thread in PC Components / Configurations - Digit Technology Discussion Forum

Second, even if you start building your computer now, you will have to wait till April for the B3 stepping board, as you cannot find any B2 stepping easily. I too am waiting for Asus P8P67 DELUXE, which I have been told that will be available only in the first or second week of April.

Third, GTX 580 is not a few months away. It is a few weeks away, fyi.

Thanks Lord for your inputs and sorry to post in the wrong section

I have confirmed with Asus Mumbai HQ that Maximus Extreme 4 is available there but they aren't willing to exchange for B3 stepping unless the mobo gets any fault during its warranty.

And regarding Asus P8P67 PRO with B3 revisions(confirmed), I got a distributor in Chandigarh who has confirmed this particular mobo will land there in next few days and I can get it.

Also regarding the GPU, I intend to buy 1 right away with the system setup, but planning to include another extra later after a few months.

get Asus P8P67 PRO ( B3 ) and OC the 2600K like hell ( ie more than 5 GHz !! ) though you need to get a decent cooler for that anyway.

IF you don't encode a lot of videos and don't care about quick sync then there's no point in waiting for z68.

BTW, what cabby you are going to get - with 2x GTX580 SLied and 2600K Oced you need a good cabby.

Thanks topgear, I decided to go with Cooler Master HAF X with Corsair AX 850 PSU.

Going with Noctua NH-D14 cooler on Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7 , Asus GTX 580 SLI
( Just worried about the first PCI-E on the mobo is very dead close to the heatsinks, not sure if I could manage to squeeze in the first Card in there )

@Storm : Corsair AX850 is a good choice but costs roughly around 10k, but Glacialtech 950 cost 7900 @ SMC international
