under opera preferences - privacy , check the box with

- enable referrer logging
- enable automatic redirection

if it doesnt work try unchecking -> apply -> recheck the box

after u uninstall . deleted the opera.ini in opera -> program files or just delete the whole folder . the opera*.adr file is ur bookmark so just back it up if u have any bookmarks

It WOrked!!

Dear Friends,
I was also suffering fromthis problem recently,

Opera showed "Couldnot Connect to Proxy" [V7.6]
--------------------------
I hope proxy is not enabled..

I checked there :
Clicked on "Proxy Servers"

Disabled :-> HTTp,HTTPS,GOPHER and enabled HTTP 1.1 for proxy.

Its working fine now.

It was a successfull experiment.

Also do u know whats' "Synchronous DNS". ?

Thx

To find the settings for Synchronous DNS, please go to Preferences > Advanced in Opera 3x, or File > Preferences Connections in Opera 4x, and you will be able to toggle the setting for Synchronous DNS.

DNS stands for Domain Name System. It's the mechanism that turns your IP name into an IP number. Like 'www.opera.com' corresponds to 207.69.194.213. Synchronous DNS is a way of doing a lookup for a machine name that will block all threads of execution in an application until a request for the reply has been received.

It is recommended that you enable Synchromous DNS if you use Winsock 2 with Windows 95 and have problems connecting to servers.
