Open source alternative to MS SQL?

Can any one suggest an open source alternative for MS SQL?
I need to provide database connectivity using .net...

Yup! MySQL, There are a lot of official Visual Studio and .NET plugins for it.

Just Search *www.mysql.com/

(Its one of the best RDBMS! Adobe, CNET, Wikipedia, Yahoo all use MySQL!)

yes MySQL is the Number One choice after MS SQL. Later you have PostgreSQL. You can also try Firebird which is also free.
