I recently got this weird problem in my Nexus 5. No media other than the ones taken using device camera is getting updated. Like if I receive any image in whatsapp it is not coming in the gallery which used to come earlier. Also if I copy some videos it is not coming in gallery or mxplayer videos list. Only the images and videos taken using device camera coming in the gallery.
The phone is with stock ROM and I have never rooted it.
I have tried the following to fix it but it didn't work.
I know I can go for a factory reset but that is the last option I like to take because it takes a hell lot of time to backup all the data, reset it, install all the application and put the data back. Please suggest.

- As media scanner can be forced to scan all media during phone boot up I have restarted my phone multiple times but it didn't help.
- I have also tried with media scanner apps available in the market but that didn't help either.
