Hi All!

I am currently using HP Pavilion DV6700. (Core 2 Duo processor running Win 7 Ultimate 32 Bit) which came with Intel Wifi Adapter 4965AGN (full height).

Can I upgrade my internal card (not use a USB adapter or PCMCIA Card) to more current Adapters like Intel 5300 Ultimate N (which I'm getting for 35$) or will I have to stick to older models because my laptop is old.

Looking forward to some advice.

Thanks!

go for netgear or belkin dongle,
if your lappy has PCMIA slot then any PCMIA based wi-fi card can be used nothing like old or incompatible, but rather use USB dongle, PCMIA card slot is not available in all laptops, and PCMIA based wi-fi cards will cost more

Thanks guys! but I was hoping of a more neat solution like just replacing the wifi card. More so, because a new wifi adapter doesn't really cost much here.

not sure about that, you will need to give laptop for repair for that, so that they change the wi-fi card, I was mistaken about the question, in your case yes compatibility check would be required, but that only service center people would be able to say.

Alright! Muchos Gracias Acewin. I'll talk to the guy selling the adapters on Amazon. He said he'll replace the card if there are compatibility issues. I have changed the adapter on a friend's laptop was not compatible with cox's network here in USA. Anyway, thanks again and I'll update the thread if the upgrade was successful or not.
