Just today I bought a new 4gb DDR3 RAM module, as I wanted to Upgrade it.
previously I had 2 RAMs of 1gb each, DDR2.
but when I replaced the RAM, the PC just wont start, when switched on the main power button on the cabinet,
a long beep sounds, no signal on lcd, automatically switches itself off & again restarts, same process repeats.
I hav GIGABYTE G41-M Combo motherboard, having 2 slots each of DDR3 & DDR2.
the 4gb RAM is a Strontium product, EVM. tried both the slots, cleaned them, cleaned RAM,
ensured the RAM is fitted perfectly, still the prob. Help please.. :| :-? :-?

try resetting cmos battery. take it out for around 15 minutes and put it back in. and see if it resolves your problem.

Thanx for Ur sugession, although it didnt workout, the problem persisted.. :|
the soln. was that my motherboard, GIGABYTE GA G41-M Combo dint support 1 stick of 4gb Ram, but it needed 2 sticks of 2gb each, hence that problem,.. i quickly replaced that 1 stick @the shop, with 2 sticks of 2gb.. :) ;) thread closed..

glad your problem is solved. that is pretty strange though. two sticks helps to run the memory in dual channel and a single stick should run in single channel.
