hi everyone !
this is my first post here
i want to buy a quad core system for 3d graphix and games so have got two options -Intel quad core Q6600
-amd opteron
i found that while intel has 8mb l2 cache amd has another 3rd level of cache which one is more efficient
*also i m looking for a good board for the respective cpus (i already have a 8600gt 512 mb ddr2)
*finally i m also looking for a proper cooling and power for that i have checked cooler master smps and cabinet
so plz suggets me with the things and if u have better option do tell me thanx btw my budget for this all is around 21k excluding drives and monitor

Q6600 + Abit IP35 E or P7N SLi platinum if u can extend ur budget by 1k
Cooler MAster 460 W SMPS
Cooler Master Elite CAbinet

techtronic

I Always Prefer 1080p
My suggestion, do not go for Q6600 as its FSB and L2 cache is less when compared to other Quad Processors.

first of all thanx guys for replying
well! i checked the kolkata market and there is no amd so i have to stick to intel so i have choosed:
* Q6700 2.66 ghz which is costing around 11k
*cooler master smps 500w costing 4300 with cabinet
and now have to choose the mainboard
nish_higher Abit IP35 E seems a good board . Can u tell me how much it wud cost
techtronic So can u suggest ne cpu with better fsb and l2 cache under reasonable budget.

hmm....

Abit IP35e
Q6700
2GB DDR2 800MHz
and get a 8800GT 512MB if budget permits, it allows for better gfx!

Q6700 , why ? there's nothing spectacular in it except one more multiplier.overclocking is still the same as Q6600 with the same power / heat emission.

Q9450 - costs a lot.again not a overclocker u'd expect after spending that much.max OC achieved with air cooling is the same as Q6600

Q9300 - Poor overclocker

Q6600 - A VFM for now.OC's quite well on a good board. And a better performer than all of these when OC'ed beyond 3.7ghz.

None of 45nm or 1333mhz Quads below 20k have value for money , any good performance.

The best possible rig - Q6600 + Abit IP35 E
Board costs 5.2k .
If budget allows , do spend 1.5 k on a CPU cooler irrespective of whichever quad u buy.

^^+1 for Q6600... Pay less and OC it to 2.66Ghz.. AFAIK, you can easily reach that speed with the stock cooler without any kind of heating issues..

hmm...thanks for the PM, u remeber me atleast ;) anyways AFAIK, Q6600 OCs to 2.8GHz on stock cooler and if u get sumthing like a Zalman CNPS6500(I have that, one helluva CPU fan) than 3.2GHz will be ur target.

+1 to nish and my bad , go for ABIT IP35e + Q6600 and a better gfx card. CPU cooler? get Zalman CNPS9500 or Zalman CNPS9700.

Get the CM650 cabby.

OC it and enjoy the performance :D

thanx again guyz
hey first of all i have no experience in over clocking
so i dont know how to do it but seeing what ya guyz wrote i think i shud learn too

hey i think i am getting ur point

and i think i shud increase my budget for better cooling stuff
by the how much will those heat sinks cost
