new pc for multimedia

My cousin bought a pc with the following components and price tag, it is bought from suburb, I just want to verify the price difference (Kolkata and Suburb) and the usability of the components as multimedia PC
the config is as follows :
a. Motherboard Intel DH61WW - 4,475.00
b. Core i5 2320 - 9,350.00
c. Ram Starlite 4gb - 1,450.00
d. HDD Seagate 500gb - 4,450.00
e. LG LED 20" - 5,900.00
f. Zotac Geforce - 2,450.00
g. Sony Dvd - 1,050.00
h. Cabinet E-Spectram -1,650.00
i. Hipstrret Multimedia - 700.00
j. Beetel UPS - 1,250.00
k. I Ball Tarang 2.1 - 1,450.00
l. Quick Heal Antivirus Pro 2011 -750.00
total : 34925
is it capable of doing multimedia tasks and game-play?

For running movies it is fine. For gaming it is not.

Buying that "Zotac Geforce" <model number?> graphic card was a waste. It is barely faster than Intel HD 3000.

Very much over priced. By spending 300 bucks extra you could get a Intel H67 motherboard.

hmm your cousin wasted Rs. 2500 on 8400GS for no added benefit over the built-in Intel HD 2000.

I'm also wondering, did he really needed i5-2320 processor for "multimedia"? Overkill.

Now let's take a look at AMD A6-3650 vs i5-2320 in games.

i5-2320 has Intel HD 2000 (not 3000), so its performance should fit in between i3-2120 (HD 2000) and i3-2130 (HD 3000) in games.

You can clearly see how much better A6-3650's built-in GPU is? A6-3650 costs Rs. 6000.

I suggested not to buy from local shop and go to g.c.avenue but he just thought shop owner is always right and he ended up with this config!

^ yup, that config is fine. All you need to do is add a graphic card like HD 5670 or better and that config would fire away.

Infact, if he had gone for a better graphic card and PSU with his current config...it is again fine.

Shop-owner convinced him not to go for the recommended parts, even he cracked joke on the PSU that is it for Car or PC? I told him to forget about that shop and go for the entire config but he completely ignored me!
