Hi rhitwick,

Based on your requirement, you may also consider the Intel i3. With this you will save some money and it gives almost you the same performance result as Intel i5, based on your requirement.

For the motherboard, I’d suggest you to go with the latest MOBO because It helps you to upgrade the system anytime.

Example:

In the future you want to add the GPU, RAM or other card in system, If you have the latest MOBO that means in the future, you can add-on a second GPU card or RAM for performance, instead of buying a new MOBO.

Just a suggestion, for RAM up gradation, if you run 2 sticks of 1600 Mhz (4x2); you will be running memory in dual channel which will be a greater increase in performance than running a single stick in single channel.

Hope this information helps.
