network problem

i have a good internet connection with 3 mbps. my internet works fine and also all the browsers and messangers. but i m not able to connect my other softwares like realplayer for updates and some other softwares too. but some like MS office, Virus update and things like that works great. also active X is not catching connection. any solution?

I think u have firewall installed....check its settings and allow the needed programs!

You most probably are behind an institutional firewall, like in a college or an office. Short of asking the network administrator to allow the service, there is no way to use them. If your computer's firewall was blocking, you would have been asked whether you wanted to unblock the port.

BTW I have the same problem and I got an earful from my network administrator when I told her that I needed to use smashits.com (realplayer)
