1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Professional photo editing in Photoshop etc (flile size can be really large), occasional video editing.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: INR 50K without monitor, Will purchase a 24”(or bigger) Dell Ultrsharp.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Reuse from my earlier system.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:NO

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Keyboard, Mouse, CD Rom, If possible and recommended I would like to reuse Cabinet Elite 330, Power supply Corsair VX450 from my earlier workststion.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: December or January

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:No, will be done by an assembler.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Pune, but I can source equipment from Mumbai, Delhi or Online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I also have Palit 9600 GT 512 MB Gddr3, is it recommended to reuse it.

Xeon e3-1246v3 ~18.6k
MSI z97 guard pro -9k
Kingston hyperX Fury HX318C10F/8 ~5.2k
CM Hyper tx3 evo ~1.8k
Samsung 840Evo 120GB SSD ~4.6k
zotac gtx 750ti ~10.7k

If you are going to buy soon then can have a look at the above config but if you are waiting till January some price changes or other altenatives might come into picture.
Can sell 9600GT. You can reuse your cabinet if you want or else can buy a new one.
If buying late in January then start a new thread 2-3 weeks before buying.

Hi Upadhyay,

I would like to add a word to help in build of PC. Here are some options for you.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard.
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory.
Storage: Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State drive.
Secondary: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive.
GPU: XFX Radeon R9 290 4GB Double Dissipation Video Card.
Case: Cabinet Elite 330.

I believe these components are best for photo and video editing based on your budget. In build, MOBO is the support of SLI and CrossFire technology that means in the future you can add-on a second GPU card for performance, instead of buying a new MOBO or replacing a totally new GPU. The R9 270 is better in terms of performance, mostly used for gaming and Photo editing and stability in graphics and with that you can enjoy better graphics. The Corsair VX450 power supply is not compatible with the system. For PSU, you can go with any brand; based on your budget but the minimum requirement of 600W.

For better performance and for the life of your system, you just add a good casing for PC and combine with a liquid cooling system on it.

Hope it helps.

Just to point out: R9 290 is bit more than 11". CM Elite 330 can accommodate GPUs 9.05 inches according to the specs. HDD mount rail faces sideways, so that measurements excludesthe cable job and the HDD length, or else remove 1-2 inch space and atleast 2 HDD space at the GPU area. Which caviar blue hits 7200RPM? I am pretty sure Samsung 830 is phased out, replaced by Samsung 840 series.

I was asked by some members to intervene to point out some flaws on your advices over here and techenclave forums. For some reason they preferred if I handled the matter over the mods/admins for some reason, probably because you're a registered rep.

Contributors work way too hard to help others for something they're not going to benefit from, and it doesn't help when reps come and give such advices. Its best if you stick with support or putting notification on new launches and having interest checks for certain stuff before launching here in India, unless Digit has issues like the time they banned a rep of a mobo brand for putting unboxing photos and another guy who posted high res pics of another motherboard brand. IIRC, he actually owns that motherboard (we're talking about toolius). But this doesn't really help.

You're not wrong about VX450, but the reasoning behind that it's not labeled 600w is not actually right. There are many psu out that that have much higher rating and tested with 50degrees celcius temps. It took a lot of time for contributors and enthusiasts to make buyers to get out of the "labelled wattage" mentality, and it doesn't help when a brand rep slowly brings it back.

About Techenclave forums, I read in a thread where you said " The MSI Z87-G45 is better in terms of performance, mostly used for gaming and stability in pixels and with that you can enjoy better graphics". You should have something to reply to the person who asked you to clarify, considering MSI is getting the same chipset and mounting the same processor with onboard GPU that Intel makes for LGA1150 socket motherboards.

Again, not sure why those folks were not willing to complain it to mods/admins and why to me, but I hope you take this feedback in a positive manner and handle it with care.

What makes anyone think that any official representative on this forum from any brand is "special" or cannot be argued with?

This forum exists for discussion. Reps are made to identify themselves to members so that they can be approached for rma or help. Apart from that, they're just regular members.

Copying vkl's rig and modyfying it a little -

i7 4770k - 21k
MSI Z97 Guard Pro - 9k
HyperxFury - 5.2k
CM Hyper TX3 EVO - 2k
Samsung EVO 120GB - 4.5k
Seasonic S12II 520W - 4.5k
GTX 750Ti - 11k

If your GFX needs are high then wait for GTX 960 till next.

Thank you so much for these insights.

Xeon e3-1246v3 is better than fx8350 and would consumer somewhat lesser power as well.
Check out various photoshop CC and cs6 benches by various review sites.i7 4770k at stock would perform identical to e3-1246v3

Well if OP is not going to overclock it's not going to make difference on cpu performance, besides 4770k is about ~3.5k costlier.
Xeon e3-1246v3 has same base and max turbo-boost clocks as of i7 4770k,the performance would be identical.
If he wants to go for an overclock-able processor then i7 4790k is a better option than i7 4770k

Yes,xeon e3-1246v3/i7 4770k/i7 4790k have integrated graphics,so you can buy any suitable GPU later as per convenience.Fx8350 lacks IGP.
Gtx 750ti is very power-efficient,Vx450 should handle gtx 750ti and e3-1246v3/i7 4790k fine if you are buying GPU now.

I didn't notice that OP didn't want to overclock. My fault. Xeon is the way to go then :)

So can we consider this as final

Xeon e3-1246v3 ~18.6k

Kingston hyperX Fury HX318C10F/8 ~5.2k ( I need more ram so will go for 8x2)
CM Hyper tx3 evo ~1.8k
Samsung 840Evo 120GB SSD ~4.6k
zotac gtx 750ti ~10.7k

which cabinet and power supply will be suitable for this.

^you can reuse your current ones for the time being,vx450 is a very good unit can keep it.
For cabinet at least a carbide 300r or likes would be good upgrade or if you can spend more Nzxt source 530 full tower ~5.9k is a good option for cabinet, for PSU Antec HCG-620 or some other good ones would be good upgrade.

Vx450 should serve the purpose for that rig quite well. That PSU was just a suggestion if you wanted to upgrade, not a necessity at all with that config.

^Since he had the budget, suggested a more feature-rich full ATX board with more PCIe slots, usb 3.0,SATA III and M.2 port.
Most full ATX H97/B85 boards with those features are priced in the same range or a bit more than this z97 board, although there are few other boards like Gigabyte G1 Sniper 5 which may not be as feature-rich but still quite close enough. Can save some money with this board. :)

CM elite 330 would be compatible with that rig,you would have to remove the cpu duct on side panel to fit the hyper TX3 evo.
Only thing is if you decide to wait and buy a more powerful GPU later which may be lengthier than maximum clearance of the cabinet then you will be forced to buy a different cabinet.
