Hi,

Today, I am going to get the PC. Just checked the hardware requirements for running the Autodesk software.

Windows® 8 64-bit Enterprise or Professional edition, or Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium edition operating system
Multicore Xeon or i-Series processor or AMD equivalent with SSE2 technology (highest affordable CPU speed rating recommended)
Multiple cores for many tasks, up to 16 cores for near-photorealistic rendering operations
8 GB RAM (Usually sufficient for a typical editing session for a single model up to approximately 300 MB on disk. This estimate is based on internal testing and customer reports. Individual models will vary in their use of computer resources and performance characteristics.)
Models created in previous versions of Revit software products may require more available memory for the one-time upgrade process
5 GB free disk space
1,680 x 1,050 monitor with true color
DirectX 11 capable graphics card with Shader Model 3 as recommended by Autodesk
Internet Explorer 7 (or later)
MS-Mouse or 3Dconnexion-compliant device
Download or installation from DVD9 or USB key
Internet connectivity for license registration and prerequisite component download

Can you please check the requirements and let me know if it is fine to go for AMD based configuration.

Does the graphics card ATI Radeon HD 4650 have DirectX 11 capable graphics card with Shader Model 3? I dont know what that means. If it doesn't please let me know a card that is capable of DirectX 11.

I checked the local prices in Bangalore. It is as below.

AMD FX 8350 - 11150
M5A97 EVO R2.0 - 7150
GSKIL RIPJAWS 8GB (1600MHz) - 4200
WD 1TB CAVIER BLUE HDD - 3775
SEASONIC 620 WATTS PSU - 5050
ASUS 24X DVD WRITER - 1000
NZXT GAMMA / NZXT SOURCE 210 / Corasair 300R - 2300/ 3000/ Need to check

ADD 5.5 % VAT EXTRA ON THE PRICE

I have put a budget of 4000 for the cabinet. If corsair 300R is available for 4000, I would get that. Otherwise, I will get NZXT Source 210.

Cost- 36325
VAT - 2000

The total cost is less 38323 including assembling.

Are these components okay? and prices are right? Is there scope for bargaining in any of the components?

Thanks for all the responses.

very nice pricing.

if you want options from intel:-
i7-4770k - 22500
Asus GRYPHON Z87 - 13500
GSKIL RIPJAWS 8GB (1600MHz) - 4200
WD 1TB CAVIER BLUE HDD - 3775
SEASONIC 620 WATTS PSU - 5050
ASUS 24X DVD WRITER - 1000
total - 50,025 this can beat FX 8350, hyperthreading support plus few newer instruction sets
plus you are getting latest haswell based config
So this is best for you IMO
add a good professional graphics Quadroo or firepro in future to maximize performence
edit:-
Plus nzxt gamma @ 2.2k

Thanks Ankush,

I wish I could have gone for Haswell rig. But I have budget constraints now. I have only 45000 rs + some change with me now. If I wait for 2-3 more days, i would get my salary and could afford the Haswell machine. But I dont have time on my side. Tommorow, I am going to my native and have promised my brother I would get the PC this week. So I have to build the machine today.

By my calculation the rig will cost around 38.500. If there is any upgrade that I can do with 45,000, I am open to that. What about adding a 64/128GB SSD? Would that be good?

Thanks.

Or I have another option. If Haswell is really that good, I can arrange 10K from some of my friends for few days.

OP, the AMD configuration you have selected is real good. Just get a CPU cooler like Hyper 212 EVO or DeppCool IceBlade Pro. These kind of CPU cooler will let you run the FX-8350 @ 4.5 GHz+ all the time. It will show some real performance boost in the applications you have mentioned.

my vote Go for haswell dont OC your your processor too much IMO it is not good for workstation.(dont know about others opinion)
Adding 128gb ssd Samsung 840 pro as OS and softwares drive will add more performence

Hi Cilus,

Thanks for the reply. I have arranged some money from one of my friends for 2 days. I have some more budget now. I can spend up to 55k. I am not sure whether i7 4770K is available in bangalore. I will check that. Any ways since rig is for his professional use, I would like to buy what is good. If i7 4770K is good and is available then I will take that.

Please let me know the best configuration that 55k can buy(Excluding the graphics card).

Whether to go for FX 8350, i7 4770K or some Muticore Xeon processor(I have no idea what these are. Are these very costly?). I checked the processor in bikramjitkar's sig. PassMark - Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 @ 3.30GHz - Price performance comparison says FX 8350 is better than Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 @ 3.30GHz. Now I am confused. I have to leave to SP road by 4:30.

So please help me to finalize the rig that I can get for 55k. The rig is not for gaming. It is for animation, 3d rendering, designing etc.. Just to highlight.. The softwares he will be using are "Autocad 2013, 3dsmax, Revit architecture, archicadd, photoshop cs5, maya, rhino, google sketchup, blender, adobe illustrater, windows movie maker, adobe reader, vlc player, km player"..

Thanks

If you are going with Intel Config the Ankush28's configuration based on Haswell is really great and Xeon Processors are not needed here.

Thanks Everyone..

I checked whether i7 4770k is available in bangalore. And it is available for 21.5k

So my final configuration is:

i7-4770k - 21500
Asus GRYPHON Z87 - 13800
GSKIL RIPJAWS 8GB (1600MHz) - 4200
WD 1TB CAVIER BLUE HDD - 3775
SEASONIC 620 WATTS PSU - 5050
ASUS 24X DVD WRITER - 1000
NZXT GAMMA / NZXT SOURCE 210 / Corasair 300R - 2300/ 3000/ Need to check

Cost - 53325
VAT - 2932.875

Total - 56257.875

Total comes around 56000 including the tax. I have not bargained on this. Probably, I will try to make this lower.

If possible I will get a Samsung 128 GB 840 pro SSD. So he can install the OS also in that now itself, than upgrading later.

If I understood correctly, the AMD rig will not work without a discrete graphics card. I think the i7 4770k comes with integrated GPU. ATI Radeon HD 4650 graphics card makes any sense in the build? Probably the integrated graphics itself might be better than 4650. Or is it required? Tell me if I am wrong.

Thanks again..

Yes, all consumer grade Intel cpus come with IGP. however, during heavy cpu workloads, the desktop responsiveness may decrease. About performance, a discreet GPPU will provide better accelerations than an IGP in the softwares you have mentioned, so use that graphic card and upgrade soon.

imo a 620W PSU will be wastage. you can very well do with a 500-550W PSU.

and instead of buying an intel with iGPU @ 21.5k, its better to go for the FX8350+7770/7750 @21K. much better IMO.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the responses.
I bought the system last friday. I got the i7 4770k based build. The total cost was 65,000 (including 128GB Corsair Neutron SSD).

The system is up and running. Thank you all for all the help.

Thanks

Well just 1 small question..
Why did you get Corsair Neutron GTX instead of Samsung SSD840 pro?? (Cheaper & faster)

Chaitanya

Cyborg Agent
oooh.. you could have waited a bit
or
Samsung 840 Pro Series 128 GB SSD Internal Hard Drive (MZ-7PD128BW) - Samsung: Flipkart.com

Not bad..
I mean thats rather good.. GTX comes very close to SSD840pro barring a few tests
nice rig btw
