Need to build a PC for my parents


Right off the assembly line
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Main purpose is browsing. Google Chrome and Skype.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 15K. Up to 20K

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows XP or Windows 8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Less than 250GB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: 17 or 18.5. Need Full HD . Samsung preferred.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I need buy everything including UPS

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: This week

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I can build it myself.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Cochin. I can buy from local shops or from Flipkart.

Get Dell IN2030 instead to make the total <20k.


Broken In
Full HD doesn't come in 17'' and 18.5'' as of now minimum 21" is required for that which is not possible in our budget. Have built 3 PC's like this for my office where I work and they are doing fine:

Motherboard - MSI FM2-A55M-E33 3.5k
RAM - Corsair (1x4GB) Value Select 1.7k
HDD - WD 250GB 2.4k
Monitor - Samsung S20B300B 20" LED 7.5k
PSU - Corsair VS350 2k
Cabinet - Zebronics 0.9k
Mouse/Keyboard - Logitech MK100 0.7 k

Total - 21.7k
