Need suggestions on selling of old laptop

I have a dell laptop whose screen got damaged recently. When I checked with Dell customer care they said it will cost around 12 k to get it repaired.

I'm in a dilemna whether I should invest so much money or should I try to sell of without repairing. When I checked in local laptop repair shop he said it may cost max Rs 8000. but I'm not sure if he will replace with genuine parts.

if it was a 30-40K laptop more than 2 yrs old give it to him a get a new one

Sell it as soon as possible, I have the same problem, My compaq Dual core laptop two year old is facing display problem ( graphic chip problem not the display unit), reapiring it is costing me Rs. 3000-4000. I dont want it to repair, just i will sell it as dead laptop to any Repair Shop for Rs. 5000-6000.
do the same as reapiring will not guarantee for its smooth running for a long time.
