need help to buy a decent smart phone

sony, samsung, htc , nokia , motorola (not in a specific order) .. not sure about LG. micromax, karbonn etc a strict NO.

5. Preferred input method (QWERTY, touchscreen, numpad, touch-n-type).

6. What camera option you want? Please specify need for flash, autofocus, front facing camera.
not that important., but should be decent considering the money being spent.

7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).
android > windows. ios out of my budget.

8. Preferred connectivity options (3G, Wifi etc)Please specify clearly.
difficult to tell.
9. Preferred applications (Flash, Swype, GPS, etc)?

10. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, mails, internet, gaming etc)?

xperia ZR , galaxy S3 , galaxy S4 mini

GOOD BATTERY ( I KNOW , BUT STILL)
WILL PREFER CARD SLOT
NOT SO SURE ABOUT REMOVABLE VS NON REMOVABLE BATTERY. (thats why not considering a few models from htc & sony, but i'm ready to reconsider if non removable battery is not that bad) eg xperia zl , xpera z, HTY one mini etc etc.

Geek in making
If rooting anf flashing custom roms is what you like to do so I would suggest you to get a phone with removable battery since some times it does comes in handy example s3.
But if you a user who likes the manufacturer taste and fo not think of taking risk so that is no problem go along with any good phone will do.
Xperia zr is a good option since it has 2gb of ram and it does makes difference.

I know it will surely get 4.4 update...
but its not main requirement of OP
if OP is okay with 16GB (user available 13GB) internal storage then N4 is also good deal...

sd card slot is impt here.
ya i'l agree that xperia zr has poor display as compared to nexus4 / S4 mini / S3.

ya i dont think i'll go for nexus 4 just because it will get 4.4 update.
morever i'v seen on the forums about overheating issues & battery drain in nexus 4.

btw, is 4.4 a major update.
and are S3 & S4 mini going to receive 4.4 update, albeit at a later date than nexus4.
