Okay first of all Hii to everyone, I'm new to this forum..kindly help me out guys..

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: I'm a freelance Editor, so softwares like Avid Pro, Premiere Pro & After Effects are a must..besides that a little bit of gaming is still okay..something like Fifa, COD MW2, Skyrim [if possible], and a few MMORPG's..

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 45k..can extend it to 50k if I find the config worth it..

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No..unless absolutely required..

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7...

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I'll need atleast 1TB, considering the video files will be incredibly huge..

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: I would want anything above 20-inch, because I'll have to constantly edit full HD videos..and view them as well..

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I already have a bundled Mouse & Keyboard which I just bought and I already own set 2.1 Creative Speakers with one Sub-Woofer

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: By the start of May or June..also I've heard that Ivy Bridge is going to launched in another 3 weeks..let me know if incorporating that will be within my budget..

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yup I can assemble a system..no worries with that..

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: I stay in Mumbai..so i'll be buying everything locally..

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Nope nothing else at all..

Thanks a lot guys.. :)

Thank you so much guys..but after looking at the config suggested by you'll I have the following questions: (please forgive me for the "noob"ness)

1. Considering my usage for mostly editing programmes, which is a better processor in the long run? AMD or Intel?

2.What exactly will the UPS unit be useful for??? (Sorry but I dont know much about them)

3. Is 4Gb RAM enough for my editing programmes?

4. Also I forgot to mention..i recently also bought a new DVD drive..so kindly remove that...

Thank you guys :)

1. IMO the i5-2400 will satisfy your needs.

2. Gives you backup during power failures and enables you to save your work and shut down properly.

3. :chinscratch:

4. Buy another 4GB RAM with that money.

Okay I know this is perhaps the longest time anyone has ever taken to reply but I had got myself into a job and had no time to do this!
So first of all now I have another problem, I recently bought myself a MacBook Pro and so that sorts out all of my editing needs but then again since I have to take it to work everyday there has to be functional pc at home! And that is exactly why I'm here again, but only this time the odds have changed..

Need to buy a PC around 22-25k

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Very Mild Gaming, which my brother might do. But Otherwise only watching HD movies and office work for my dad and bro

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: The Old PC has 320GB, which 80% full so I'll need atleast a 1TB more

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes a 20-inch would be perfect and if you could fit in a FULL HD monitor although I know its impossible.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:Mouse, Keyboard , DVD Drive, Speaker

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: In Two Weeks.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I'll be doing it on my own.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai, So I can purchase locally if anyone over here knows the local prices.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans : NO

Thank you so much guys :)

Amd A6 3500 is a tricore apu which has 6530D as IGP which is good enough for casual gaming. It would handle all your mentioned workloads with ease.
Benq G2222HDL is a full HD monitor.

If you go with Sainatarajan's config then you get a better GPU for gaming.

^^Agreed.
This APU config can easily hold its own for coming some years for his mentioned
workloads.
Next year haswell is coming with lga1150 socket.
Then after 2 years almost all sandy bridge processors and many ivy bridge processors would have reached their EOL.
Switching to lga1155 wont be handy then as haswell and broadwell processors would be much better then.......same goes with amd processsors.

It would be only handy if somebody switches in a short time period.
