when you have money, than why you want to use internal hard disk as external.

WD passport is best in my opinion. 160Gb comes for around Rs. 3500/-

he can afford 250 or 320 GB pre-built external drives in 5K.
WD Passport is good, and seems people have also started recommending Transcend's storejet's built, the one with black and orange finish, not the transcend standard casing externals.

yes, because all desktop hard disk based external drives need external power.
External power supply based external HDDs can be a pain if you need to take external everywhere( hence better internal HDD kept as internal HDD), so better buy laptop HDD based external or slim external HDDs which just run on USB supplied power from the system. Branded external HDDs are real good.

actually i'm not planning to move my HDD around..so a power supply wouldn't be a problem..so how much is a 500gb HDD going to cost in mumbai?how much would a 750gb & a 1TB cost?is there any chance of costs coming down in the next 1 month?
