Hi Digit,
I am a causal gamer, I've got a 19'' Monitor and i play most games @1600x900 on Nvidia GTX560 Ti. I've got a Seasonic 550W PSU. I plan for a big upgrade, i want to upgrade my mobo and CPU. My Current Specifications are.

CPU: C2D E7500 2.93Ghz
Mobo: Asus P5KPL AM/PS
GPU: NVIDIA GTX560 Ti 1GB

My requirements for the MOTHERBOARD are:

  1. A 2-way SLI mobo only ! (dont want/care abt 3-way).
  2. Ivy-Bridge Supported Motherboard! (For future Upgrades).
  3. USB 3.0 Support (Native or External Hardware doesnt matter).
  4. 1333/1600 MHz RAM support.
  5. No Overclocking support.

P.S. I require the Cheapest possible solution! but still i have a budget around 10K (I can extend upto 15K, if sadly there are no motherboards under 10K).

P.S. I know for SLI i need to upgrade my PSU to atleast 650W, ignore that please.

BMG ftw!!
IVY Bridge is based on LGA1155 socket, E7500 is based on LGA775 socket. Different socket = different motherboard, No USB3 Support before LGA1136 boards.

Buy a new processor, ditch your E7500.

Yes of course i know that, as i said i am looking for a big upgrade, changing both mobo and CPU, I will see the CPU options after mobo.

thank you for the quick reply :)

The best option under 15k would be asus maximus v gene, that is, if you can live with micro atx form factor. Another option is p8z77-v. It is an atx mobo.
In the near 10k category, there is mobo like ga z77-d3.

In my area im getting Gigabyte GA Z77P-D3 for 10176 Rs.

Any other mobo below 10K ??

There are mobos under 10k. But usually not that good for overclocking. If you have the budget go for the best mobo available.

Please suggest the cheapest mobo that fulfills the requirement. Thank you :)

^^ Then think about buying any good H67/H77 based motherboards. Forget about Z68/Z77 based motherboards.
At this point of time, best motherboard (value for the money) is Intel DH67-CL @5.5K
Not much H77 motherboards are available in India atm. You may look for Asus P8H77-V @~8K (I'm not sure about the price though)

No the intel one doesn't support sli. You need to search a bit for a h77/h67 mobo which supports sli/cfx. Btw why not go for a cheap z68/z77 mobo which supports sli. Like the biostar taz68k+. Many people use this non k+z68 combos.

MSI Z68A G45 (G3) Supports SLI . It is Coming Soon to Flipkart . It is available at SMC for 8.5k , But it isnt the best overclocker.

Biostar TZ68K+ mobo is a good cheap option !

MSI Z68A G45 (G3) is a Sandy Bridge mobo, i heard that it will only support Ivy Bridge CPU by a BIOS Update with some functions disabled ? There are rumors that since Ivy Bridge is a 22nm die shrink of 32nm Sandy Bridge, it might not be fully compatible, again no one is really sure.

Otherwise, MSI Z68A G45 (G3) is also a good option for me.

If you are going with cfx then there is a option like asus p8h77-m, it supports cfx but not sli. It is a h77 so it will support ivy bridge.

While buying Motherboard with SLI support, make sure that the 2 PCI-E X16 slots are capable of running at X8-X8 speed. There are plenty of cheap Z68/Z77 motherboards available having two PCI-E X16 slots running at X16-X4 speed. Now SLI is not supported on X16/X8-X4 configuration, only X-fire is supported.
For example Biostar TZ68K+ does not support SLI as it has PCI Express X16 slots running @ X16-X4 speed.

if your budget for mobo is 10000/-look no further than the asrock z77 extreme -4 which is a terrific board with many features, definitely better than all the boards suggested so far with possible exception of asus z77 v gene-but go for asrock, only if you are getting an unlocked sandy/ivy cpu . If you are going for locked sandy/ivy cpu i dont think sli can be done on them get h77/h67 ones ,look in some gigabyte models

I will only buy LOCKED non-'K' processors, i dont want to overclock at all. I am interested in ASUS Maximus IV, but i was looking for mobo below 10K.

Currently I have 3 Choices but all are above 10K!!!: (Considering that x16-x4 PCIe Configuration does not work with NVIDIA SLI!)

  1. ASUS MAXIMUS IV GENE-Z @13.5K in Jaipur
  2. ASUS P8Z77-M PRO Motherboard @13K in Jaipur.
  3. ASUS P8Z77-V @15K in Jaipur.

if you buying locked cpu no need wasting your money on any of those mobos go with intel
Intel DH67-CL @5.5K
locked cpu +plus z77/z68 mobo- no sense
