hi 2 all,
i m planning for a build with any of these-
1. i5-750
2. phenom X4 965
3. phenom X6 (whichever available)

now i need to have a board which is SLI capable (8X 8X).
1. for i5 i got the cheapest is- Asus P7P55D PRO for 7.5 K
2. for phenom series - asus M4N75TD (8X 8X) aprox. 6.5K (i guess)
3. dont have idea about mobo for X6.

so plz give me some clues for getting the board. I wud like 2 spend upto 7K for board. Moreover i wan to use SLI for Nvidia 3D rig lateron (not right now). so i guess i will be forced have to choose Intel way.
Also, what can be the approx. prices of these processors and boards. just approx. Is X6 1055T really costing only 8.3K (i mean, is it that cheap? i dont think so. it was quoted by Anupam_pb in a thread )

Thanks to all
Naveen

well i dint get questionnaire form anywhere, so just replying questionnaire with an old memory.
1. CPU -i5-750/ phenom X4 965/ phenom X6 (whichever available)
range - upto 10K
2. Motherboard - SLI required with 8X 8X ( upto approx. 7k)
3. Graphic card- I have one- MSI NX 8400GS - 512 MB
Though i'll be getting a GTX some time later after pc setup. i wont use this MSI GPU with SLI. this is just for some light load.
4. PSU - is any heavy power supply required for PC without a heavy GPU right now? or can i change the power supply lateron when i get the heavy Graphic card. as of now i can use the inbuilt PSU only within casing.
5. DVD Drive- i already have
6. RAM- 2 GB DDR II/ III
7. Hard disk- I have- western digital 500 GB (sata/ 16 MB Cache). will this Hard dsk be sufficient for gaming?
8. Cooling- Not required.
9. Monitor- I have 19" LCD.
10. My computer knowledge- 7 Points ( i keep in touch with update news)
11. I can assemble PC but i guess it is better to buy from a dealer only, to easen the warranty & replacement issues. What do u say???
12. Nothing left to buy second hand.
A bit of left & right template for you, but plz forgive me, as i am running in a very hectic office schedule, & get no time.
Thanks alot.

@OP: whatever ishu has suggested seems fine IMO.

For SLI, you need to decide a Powerful Card Combo & PSU [SMPS] to run these setup
properly.

Which RAM's currently you have ??

BTW Have you decided which SLI you actually want ? or give us the hint about your budget

IMO SLI setup will be overkill for the Monitor currently you have.

Which is your Monitor make & post the model no.

Please fill this up for more clarity.

ya, i want it for gaming, wud be using Nvidia 3D rig as well (but not now, after some time).
My budget is 25-27K right now (without Graphic Card, wud get it seperately lateron, presently i have MSI NX 8400GS - 512 MB for normal use ). Basically i will make the SLI work after few months.
I have LG LCD TV-19" with PC in slot, HD Ready HDMI 1.3 .Model is - LG LS20R

Questionnaire-:
1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A: Gaming, will use Nvidia 3D rig after few monts

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: any ideas

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 27000, excluding graphic card

4. Planning to overclock?
A: not really

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Win 07, wont purchase it,i have a copy

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 500 GB

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
A: I have an LG LCD TV- 19 inch, Model- 19LS20R. it is HDMI 1.3, hope it is enough for good resolution well above 1024

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 7

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: i can assemble desktop, but wud prefer to get it from a vendor only, as it eases repair & warranty issues.

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: by the end of this month

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: yes but not fully futureproof. i want just 70 %of futureproofing

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: no, but plz let me know something about NVIDIA 3D rig's compatibility with this build & availability

13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: Visakhapatnam, i can buy from other cities but i guess it wud get somewhat complex

14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: ----

Component | Model | Price
CPU|Intel i5 2400|9.5k
Motherboard|Intel DH67CL|6.5k
RAM|Corsair 2x2GB 1333MHz|2.3k
HDD|Seagate 500GB 7200.12|1.7k
PSU|Corsair VX550W|4.5k
Case|CM Elite 430|2.5k
TOTAL||27k

1) For Nvidia 3D, you need a 3D capable monitor (costs 25k+), 3D glasses (5-10k iirc). So forget it.
2) I hope you are not talking about SLIing the 8400GS.
3) The onboard graphic card in this is better than 8400GS
4) I suggest selling your 8400GS and using the onboard till you can buy a graphic card. Forget SLI just go with a single card like GTX560 @ 15k.
5) This CPU should last you for 3-4 yrs for gaming.

PowerHouse
@Ishu: Sorry, I didn't saw your post.

In this case buy the following stuffs.

Processor : Intel i5 2500K @ 11.5k
Motherboard: Intel DP67BG @ 8k
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 2X2GB 1333C9 - 2.3k
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 16MB cache - 1.7k
Case: CM Storm scout - 6k roughly [considering the fact of using a sli setup.]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SMPS: IMO you need to have a minimum of 750w [considering 560 or 570 SLI] setup & probably for 580 SLI you need more than 850w. Budget swings around 8k-10k for PSU
GPU: select any one as per your budget.
if you are considering AMD eyeinfinity then go with 6950 CF setup, cheap as well as a beast in terms of performance, cost less than 30k.
1. Asus GTX 560ti Direct CU II - 15k [30k for SLI]
2. Asus GTX 570Direct CU II - 21k [42k for SLI]
3. Asus GTX 580 - 27k [54k for SLI]
Note: I doubt whether Current 8400GS is of any use after you upgrade it any SLI, coz 8400GS doesn't even support Physx.
All the best & Let others to comment.
Thanx Ishu,the rig is perfect, but cud u just let me know a SLI capable Board for i5-2400, i dont want to shut the door for second GPU.and plz, i insist on a board & GPU combination suitable for Nvidia 3D rig. I'll just wait for some more time to get 3D rig. so plz dont shut the door for these two issues. just consider this request. & also, can i order some of these components from some other place, as i guess i'll find it difficult to get it in Visakhapatnam (anyways if i get these here, they will give me damm costly). Thanx alot....
