Dear friends,

Would request your suggestion to help me choose a PC config, with the answers given below. I can go for either AMD (if consumes less power, 65 W or below) or Intel. But this PC should not become obsolete in next 5 yrs. Thanks

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Mainly word processing, browsing, 1080P full HD movie viewing. Processor should use less power, 65W or lower. Need 4 GB RAM 1600 Mhz minimum, USB 3.0, HDMI port on MoBo, Hard disk SATA II(if possible), Wi-fi enabled, and if possible should support 5.1 channel audio.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Rs 20,000

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No. basic user

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 7, however would like to future proof myself for Win8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1 TB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Will use existing monitor

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: monitor, Keyboard, mouse, speaker, DVD drive

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: this week

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: assembler will do

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: locally at Kolkata

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:

Welcome to TDF :D
Here is my suggetion...
Intel i3-3220 (3.3GHz 65Watt TDP, Intel HD 2500) @ 7.5k
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H (max. 32GB DDR3, USB3.0, 1xSATA |||, 5x SATA ||, Realtech 7.1 audio, HDMI) @ 4.3k
Corsair value select 4GB 1600MHz @ 1.9k
Antec BP300p smps @ 1.9k (search on infibeam.com)
Local zebronics cabinet @ 0.7k or NZXT Gamma @ 2.2k
Western Digital caviar blue 1TB HDD @ 4k
total ~20k more or less but perfect for your needs :)
Add some cabinet fans too...
For Wi-fi Add TP-link 150MBPS USB wifi adapter will cost you mere 700 bucks, inbuilt wifi motherboards are very costly.

Alternatives are FX 6300 with amd 780 motherboard(better CPU performence)
or
A8-6600 with FM2 mobo(better.inbuilt graphics)
but both are more power hungry and obviously better performer...

PS:- post model no. / resolution of you monitor
