Ok this query is for my friend... He will be buying this on Monday (tomorrow!)

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Photoshop and Lightroom, using heavy and big files (multiple layers etc.)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 70,000/- Max. But nothing fixed. If it happens in 50k I have no issues too!

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 8 64bit / Windows 7 64 bit

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1TB / 2TB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes, he has finalized Dell Ultrasharp U2414H.. The price of this monitor should be included in the budget

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Speakers need not be included. Everything else, including UPS needs to be included.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Tomorrow

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Don't know how this question will help.. but yes he will assemble himself

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Delhi. He will prefer buying from Nehru Place.. not online..

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Try to mention at least another alternative for the following - PSU, Motherboard, Graphics card, RAM
(Because he will be buying from store, and the suggested product is not available, for a backup option)

Thanks a lot in advance.

R7 260X is not available at 6K. I think you are talking about 250X, not 260/260X

The above configuration is very good but I would suggest some small changes. A SSD is very much welcome here instead of a 2TB high performance HDD. Similarly, instead of a 6K PSU, OP can opt for cheaper version of PSU. Here is my suggestions:-

AMD FX-8350 @ 12K
Gigabyte 970A-DS3P @ 5.5K
Corsair Value Series 8GB X 1 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 @ 4.8K or Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R 4GB X 2 1600MHz DDR3 CL9 @ 4.9K (Corsair Vengeance®)
WD Caviar Blue 1TB HDD @ 4K
Kingston SUV100S37A/120G 120GB SSD @ 5.45K (Flipkart Price)
ANTEC VP550 550W PSU @ 3.7K (Flipkart)
Circle CC818 Cabinet @ 2.4K
Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" LED @ 15.5K (Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" Monitor with LED)
Asus 24B5ST DVD-RW 1K
APC Black 1.1KVA UPS @5.5K
Logitech MK200 @ 0.7K
Sapphire HD 7770 @ 8K

The Incinerator

Human Spambot
Intel Alternative

i5 4570 - Rs 13500

Asus B85-PLUS - Rs 7500 ( with enough expansion slots to keep any pro happy)

Corsair Vengeance® — 8GB DDR3 (4x2 GB) (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R) Rs 5145 including TAX.

WD Green 1.5TB Rs 4500 ( Just for 500 more you get 500GB more with your primary Drive being a SSD)

ANTEC NEO ECO 520C - Rs 4500 (A Seasonic Unit Underneath, since youll be pushing the 12V Rails while editing)

NZXT Gamma or Beta Evo - Rs 2600 if you dont find em in delhi Spend a bit more and get the Corsair 200R

Remaining all are same. Now if you edit photos with multiple layers and 8000x8000 resolution a GPU with 192 or 256 bit bandwidth makes things easier.

And yes get a better Mouse like the Logitech G400.

Thanks a lot for the replies.
Yes I also think the SSD will benefit..the Photoshop scratch disk should be placed in the SSD...

Regarding the Graphics Card, does Photoshop benefit from CUDA? In that case will an nVidia card be preferable?

WD Green series are for storage only and not meant for providing high speed data acess. They provide lowest performance among the different series. Better buy an SSD and install OS and editing applications on it to get a performance boost.

You can get it Online. What I've noticed, SSD prices don't varry that much between Online and Street Prices. In fact, sometimes online prices are cheaper.
