Best is bitdefender. It is costly though.
Also 32 bit antivirus wont work with 64 bit. But if it works, then with certain limitations. That is not recommended for a software like antivirus.Hence use only 64 bit antivirus. I think only that will work.

Can you justify your points?

How a 32-bit antivirus will be limited on 64-bit system?

Why 32-bit antivirus will not work in 64-bit systems? They are not drivers.

Pls don't troll here...

See, a 32 bit OS can run 32 bit and 16 bit applications. 32 bit os run 16 bit apps with limitation, just like turbo c. A 64 bit os can run 64 bit and 32 bit apps. It cant run 16 bit apps. 64 bit os runs 32 bit apps with limitations. An antivirus needs privileage(mainly some permissions)to clean viruses and run on a pc. But a 32 bit antivirus cant get that privileage on a 64 bit os.
Every 32 bit antivirus will resist while installing on a 64 bit os. They will tell you to install the 64 bit version in order to avoid issues.

It's true....

64 bit os runs 32 bit apps with limitations.

Sir, you are entirely wrong here. 32-bit apps do not run with limitations in 64- bit os. There is only negligible performance loss because of emulation.

An antivirus needs privileage(mainly some permissions)to clean viruses and run on a pc.

An antivirus requires administrator level access to system which is same for both 32-bit and 64-bit antivirus.

But a 32 bit antivirus cant get that privileage on a 64 bit os.

Do you know any privileage which is specific for 64-bit only apps.

Every 32 bit antivirus will resist while installing on a 64 bit os. They will tell you to install the 64 bit version in order to avoid issues.

Only AVG as of now has 64-bit version. All antiviruses like avast, avira, norton and many other are still 32-bit.

You might not trolling, but your post seems like it's s sin to install 32-bit antivirus :)

You are absolutely wrong. better check yourself.

it is not a sin. But not recommented. Also most 32 bit antivirus wont install on 64 bit.

Do you know why a 64 bit os require 64 bit drivers?
Think yourself.

try to install bitdefender 32 bit and eset smart security 32 bit on 64 bit os..
Tell me the results.

These security suits have 64-bit versions, thats why they are stopping users from their 32-bit suits :) That doesn't mean 32 bit antivirus will create any problem.

Free antiviruses like avast and avira are still on 32-bit, that dosen't mean they are incompatible or not recomended on 64-bit windows. :)

windows 64bit was designed to work with32 bit applications but in order to do so Microsoft had to build a special section in the 64bit registry for 32bit applications to function called the wow6432node (it is an exact mirror of a 32bit registry inside the 64bit registry) a true 32bit application cannot see anything outside of that area of the registry. so to make a long explanation short if you are running a 32bit antivirus it will load and appear to function 100% however there is a whole higher hierarchy to the registry that this application will not be able to see or provide security on.
So most antivirus wont take that risk.
(got it from internet)

^^The dangerous stuxnet virus first attacked linux. The attacker could take control over administrator account very easily even if he/she was working with a guest account.
Nothing is safe lol:)
windows is hacked mostly because it is used by more than 80% people. Even apple os is not safe.
