This post is dedicated to my dear friend "Manteshwar Sidhu".....
hey guys, I found out how to set up any of ur apps in ur phone to be opened by
"multimedia key" in "N70 MUSIC EDITION" ...
i used following apps and softwares to configure the media key to open any of ur apps...
1) fexplorer 1.18(beta)--this version must,
2) any hex to decimal converter,
3) x-plore 1.21,
4) the following file "1020e4fe.ini" which is used to store media key settings in n70, i found it by noting what file changes on changing the media key prefrences in plain n70...it is of 274 bytes and shud stay of this size even after editing (shown below)...
Step 1) firstly use fexplorer... open it, goto "options>tools>installed applications" and click on it... it wil create a list of all the softwares installed in ur phone(c: e: z: ) with their application UIDs in the c: drive...
u shud tranfer this file to ur pc for easier readibility...
it wud be something like in dis format...
0x0f7434ec: About E:\System\Apps\About\About.app
0x1020777f: Adobe Reader E:\System\Apps\ADOBEREADER\ADOBEREADER.app
0x10206f81: Alarm Manager E:\System\Apps\AlarmManager\AlarmManager.app
for e.g. i wil demonstrate how to set up "alarm manager" to be opened by media key..
the 1st part- 0x10206f81 is the appuid, used to address apps in ur phone..
2 nd part is name of the app , in dis case "alarm manager"
3rd is the location of app in ur phone...
we only need the first part, ie application UID- 0x10206f81
Step 2) open any hex to decimal converter which is easily available on internet..
put the part after "0x" in the hex field, ie "10206f81" in this case(without quotes) ...
its decimal equivalent wud come out to be--- 270561153 --- ... note is down
Step 3) now dwnload the file attached to ur pc... keep dis original file in safe location(for further use) and make a copy of it for ur present use...copy it to ur phone... *www.downloadtaxi.com/d/1202501632
next open this file in x-plore, go on it and click '8' key.. it wil open up in hexeditor mode... choose "menu>edit chars" ...
the cursor wil mov to right-side pane... now move down to 7th line frm top... it shud say like
7th line--> 2.7.0

3.7.6
.0...
(note- total 9 digits excluding dots ie 270543760)
now all u hav to do is replace dis no by --- 270561153 ---(dec equivalent of appuid hexcode,calculated in step 2)...
so when ur cursor is on 2 press and hold '2' key on ur phone to change it to 2...
similarly
now take ur cursor to 7 and press and hold '7' key on ur phone to change it to 7...
now take ur cursor is on 0 press and hold '0' key on ur phone to change it to 0...
now take ur cursor is on 5 press and hold '5' key on ur phone to change it to 5...
now take ur cursor is on 4 press and hold '6' key on ur phone to change it to 6...
now take ur cursor is on 3 press and hold '1' key on ur phone to change it to 1...
now take ur cursor is on 7 press and hold '1' key on ur phone to change it to 1...
now take ur cursor is on 6 press and hold '5' key on ur phone to change it to 5...
now take ur cursor is on 0 press and hold '3' key on ur phone to change it to 3...
so ur hex code might now look something like
7th line--> 2.7.0
.5.6.
1.1.5
.3...
Step 4) when u r done, click "back" and x-plore will ask u if u want to save changes... press "yes"...
now verify dat file size is still "274 Bytes"...
now copy-paste dis file in the location
"c:>system>shareddata" in ur n70 Music Edition...
now exit x-plore....IT IS COMPLETE...
Now when u click on ur multimedia key ..... voila--- It opens up the "alarm manager" app (a 3rd party app) ...
pressing ur media key for long still opens "visual-radio"...
And so IT IS DONE !!!!
enjoy guys, sry for long post , jst to make it easier to explain in detail.... u can set any of ur app to be opened mmedia key by dis method... In case u wanna have original N70 music edition , mmedia key setting, jst delete the "1020e4fe.ini" file frm c:>system>shareddata ...
