Right off the assembly line
hi,

I have a P4 2.4 GHz , Intel Original 845 GVSR board, 512 MB DDR 1(the original 256MB failed this one is around an year old). I've had this rig since 2004.

I was playing UrT (fps game) the other day when the PC just died. The screen went dead(off), the green led for power on the cabinet was on solid, however the HDD red led stayed off, all fans went dead.

The situation now is that when i try to turn it back on, the only thing that comes alive is green led for power on the cabinet. All fans (including that of the SMPS) stay off. Its a ZInx power supply, i got it after the original Intex power supply conked off in nov last year, this one is still under warranty.

I think the SMPS(a.k.a. power supply) died, wot say guys? I just wanted your opinions on this before i take this all the way to Nehru Place( i live in Delhi).

thanks

Its mostly an PSU problem. Change it. Don't try the same SMPS on a different computer as it might be faulty and could damage the components on that computer.

Just chek the ram also. Try another piece of RAM.

But there is a heavy possibility of PSU failure.
