I am working on customising Windows XP installation, something like ramastering Knoppix, ofcourse not as adventureous as remastering Knoppix but a good time pass and little fun. I have a Win XP Pro installation Disk of 488 MB size, I intregated SP 2 into it and burnt it on a disk, its size is some 576 MB. I wanted to further customize it and did some googling to find some intresting stuff like "Unattended installation instructions of XP" and a small software called nLite.
With the help of these tools I further modified the 576 MB installation disk by making it unatteded installation disk and also removing many useless components and services in XP. Surprisingly, when I burnt it on the CD its size was 387 MB!!!. Windows XP Pro with SP2 is now just 387 MB. I installed this and it works great!!. Now I want to change the default wallpapers and sounds in XP, I mean those that are found in c:\windows\web\wallpaper and c:\windows\media. For this I searched both the original 488 MB and customized 587 MB installation disks to find those wallpapers and sounds so that I can replace them with mine, but I could'nt locate them. I guess that they may be compressed in some file, I opened all the cabinet files to find those wallpapers and sound but I got nothing!!
Can anyone help me in this, I mean where are these default XP wallpapers and sounds on the installation disk and how do I replace them with mine ? I will be on the sky 9 if I could do that. I am a huge fan of Anna Kournikova and I want to fill the disk with her photos!
Ofcourse more tips and tricks on customization are welcome!!

Since when did Windows become open source?

Slipstreaming SP2 into the installation......that's one thing, hacking the GUI......well that's something I'm not very sure of.

Did anyone speak of Windows becoming Open Source ??
Well I thought the default the XP installation can be customized by adding or removing some of the components like for example we can remove Media Player, Internet Explorer etc from the default XP installation CD, a software like nLite will do it and ofcourse you can google about the Unattended XP installation....
However what I would like to change is the default wallpaper and the default startup and shutdown sound in XP. I mean the default wallpaper that we get when we load XP is bliss.bmp, this must be present somewhere on the installation CD, may be in compressed form in some cabinet file or so....
I just want to change it.. if it is possible!!!
