Hello all,

My APC 1100VA UPS went kaput. Can I get it repaired? Its not turning on. What could be the problem? Its showing charging only indicator but not turning on. Its bought on Sep, 30th, 2019 so I think it has done its duty right? Should I order a new same UPS or another brand one? Please suggest? Thanks.
My config is in my signature.

You can easily get the battery replaced, which usually is the culprit.

My own APC 1100 VA UPS was not working after few years of usage. I took it to a local computer market. The new battery costed around Rs 1100 and the guy replaced it and UPS started working.
You can replace the battery yourself easily. But opening and assembling it back might be challenging depending on how hands on you are with the hardware. Battery itself can be easily connected/disconnected from the UPS, no solder required.

i have faced the same issue today with a apc bx600. light turned red and it is not working. manual says the battery needs to be replaced. online apc battery price is around 1700-2000, APC is selling it for 2534 and a new ups is 3299. the ups was bought in september 2018. i am leaning towards a new ups due to this.

If you're sure that it's the battery, you can get battery from some other brand for lot less and power your UPS.

as per the manual, if it is a red light without any beep, then it is battery. also, i had a talk with apc service person and he said apc does not service oow items so i need to get it from local market which according to him will be around 1000. this is extremely weird on the part of a company like apc.
right now, i am using it on my home inverter which is running on ups mode now.

About a decade ago, I bought 5 or 6AH battery for about 600/- I guess. So 1000/- for 7.2AH might be right. Yeah, for about a decade now my PC is connected to home inverter and running on UPS mode.

12V 7.2Ah batteries are readily available on stores. Recently bought one from exide at 900 bucks and got discount of Rs. 100 for exchanging it with the old battery.

today i tried in the local market. after connecting new exide battery, it still showed red light on the ups so it is the card issue and 2 of the regular repair guys said i can try only with apc service centre as no other person repairs apc ups card. so i bought a new apc 500 ups. it is working fine.

By card you mean "board"? If that's the case then it wouldn't be economic, the board and labour would cost over 70% of a new one. Getting a new is the wise choice and did it right by going for new one.

yes the pcb. actually everyone calls it card, even the apc guy who came to service it during the warranty period said there are only two things in it which can go wrong, card and battery so i have brought 1 each of them with me.
i noticed that it worked for around 80 months, bought in september 2018 for 2400 so it works out to 30 ruppes per month i.e. 1 rupee per day. what more can i expect from it so got another one for 3150. my regular shop person asked which one - microtek, foxine ..... i told him about my experience then he said you better get an apc one then as you won't be satisfied with another one. i thought if i come across any apc service centre then i will ask about it and if a kabadiwala comes before that then it will go to him.
