VLC...VLC...VLC..VLC...??? What's up with u guys? He is asking about 'Standalone Player' yes make sure u read it thoroughly..it a standlone player NOT a computer media player. Please read post thoroughly and reply.

Go for Philips DVD player....It offers good quality at reasonable price.

all divx players can play xvid....i have played many aXXo rips and other xvid vids on my philips player.

xvid is same as divx... except that its open source.

If thats the case,then why are they not mentioning it under Compatible Codecs List
In the website which you have mentioned above,the supporting Codecs are mentioned as DivX 3.11,DivX 5.X,DivX 6.X but nowhere i can find XviD Codec Supported sign

Am not trying to be argumentative,but seriously one of my friends has a Phillips Standalone DVD/DivX Player which plays movies encoded with DivX 3.11/DivX 5.X and DivX 6.X,but the moment you insert aXXo Rips or for that fact any video encoded with XviD Codec,it doesnt get detected

of course i will go 4 the VLC media player
VLC player rocks man.....

i can access any file 4m it (i hope... it has not given me any trouble till now.......)
and then my chance will go to media player classic (an alternate of real player)
