Mp3 Player's Boot Sector

I dont know what happened with my mp3 player.whenever i tried to open,format or even properties it doesnt show up.I scanned the player with my antivirus but it take too much time. So i tried to format it using command prompt but it failed .when i asked my neighbour he said that boot sector have some damage pls help

boot a linux live cd and try to format with that

When my mp3 player was showing a "dos error" . I fixed it by using a format option in the mp3 player itself. See if there is any option to format in the player itself..
and please post which mp3 player it is model/company
