Hello Guys

I wanted to know which motherboard is very suitable for DDR2 and the budget is somewhere around 5000 - 7000 and please do tell me what is the difference between DDR and DDR2.

AFAIK DDR2 mobo will be bit more than that.

Intel mobo from 915P onwards will support DDR2. Asus P5AD2 Deluxe/Premium belong to Intel 925X family. Not very sure about any compatible AMD boards.

DDR2 chips are the next generation of DDR SDRAM memory. They are mounted on 240-pin DIMM modules, can operate at higher bus speeds and have a capacity to hold 256 Mb to 2 GB of memory. DDR2 has twice the latency of DDR but delivers data at twice the speed of DDR, theoretically performing at the same level.

Thanks guys

Thank u very much for your replires in colour and it did effect me.

Do the motherboard MSI RS480M2-IL support the DDR2 ?

Since i have it

And is it necessary for update of DDR to DDR2 since i already did the update last 2 months.

What is your favorite color ? Will post in that color.

I go to any forum, I can easily find you with you colour posting, first i believe i saw it in DI,correct me if i am wrong

See it works wonders. Gives an unique identity.. As hell I was on DI, PR, BR and lot more. What about you ? I didnt see you participating on PR recently. Is everything alright or did your interests took a turn for good ???

@ Pragna. Unfortunately RS480M2-IL does not support DDR2. As a matter of fact, every mobo for AMD CPU that I know of does not support DDR2. Correct me if I am wrong but I think you'll have to opt for Intel CPU/mobo if you really want to use DDR2.

True :p , after being in many forums , when ever i see blue color , i immediatly remember u ( Even when seeing some bill boards when driving which are painted in dark blue :p :p )

Thanks for the appreciation ace, lets continue it on PM rather than this thread so that we dont disturb the discussion.

In short DDR2 uses slower RAM chisp to deliver the same data rate as DDR since DDR666 is about as fast as possible to make cheaply.

Precisely. So there is no major performance gain if you have DDR2 @ 533 MHz due to higher latency. But if its DDR2 @ 666 MHz, then there will be noticeable performance gain. But then again its upto the consumer to decide whether to shell out lots of money for small performance gain. Eventually the prices of DDR2 will fall and it will be widely used. But for the time being its a no-no except you have really deep pockets.
