Motherboard and processor combo

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run?
Ans: Primary purpose is entertainment. Movies and games. I'll be playing almost all the games. Recent, old and upcoming. But I'm not a big fan of visual effects as such. So, I'll be using the lowest possible resolutions and all effects minimum.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 10k is comfortable, but can be stretched to 15k. But that's about it. No more.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Negative.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: XP 32-bit preferably, because that's what I'm using now. But again, if demands be, can be upgraded.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I usually play not more than two games at a time. And the movies have a separate home. So, my trusty 80GB Seagate will do just fine. 30GB OS partition and the rest, another.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No plans for monitor. Currently, I have an HP L1710 17-inch TFT, 1280*1024. But rest assured, games would run at the lowest possible resolution that they support.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Already have-
Graphics card : HIS Radeon HD7750 1GB GDDR5 (PCIe 3.0)
PSU : CoolerMaster Thunder 500W
RAM : G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 (single module)
I won't buy a discreet cabinet for this setup and I'll reuse the monitor.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Latest by first week of October. That is when I'll have the required dough. And the 'Already have' components were bought from this salary.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I've done it a million times. And I'll be the one to do it again.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Pune, Maharashtra. Zero local shopping. Flipkart is the way to go. Above components are from there only. (Please do not suggest any online shops requiring credit/debit card details. Cash on delivery.)

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I understand that I should have posted this thread before I got the video card, but what has been done is done. Bear with me. Please suggest something keeping in mind the 'Already have' components.

So, all this boils down to the Motherboard and the Processor. All other components seem to be handled above. Suggest me a perfect combo that mates perfectly with my video card.

Thank you one and all. Appreciate it.

Extend your budget a little more and get hold of an Intel i5 2500 and an Intel DH67BL. And why do you still want to use Windows XP? Please use Windows 7 as it will give you better performance!

At a budget of 15K, you can opt for:
AMD FX 8120 3.1 GHz @ 9.7K
Asus M5A88M AM3+ @ 5.4K

That processor is a monster. Don't you think that something lower end might suffice me just fine? And really, 15k is a stretch. Suggest something within 10-11k.

Thank you. I'll go for the intel budget rig. Do you think that my stock cooler would suffice for this? The one that came with my P4, will it be able to keep things cool? If no, please suggest me a good cooler.

No need of using the old P4 cooler. Better give it to some one in need.
The stock cooler of i3 is perfect. You wont need an additional cooler.
