I have MTNL Broadband connection. Currently my PC is not connecting to internet. I checked all the settings and also called the MTNL engineer who tried to repair the problem but as per him the modem is working fine but the PC is not able to receive broadband signals but it is able to send signals. As he showed me here:[/U]

My earlier question was here:

most likely your network properties are wrong.in your 1st pic local area connection status click on properties tab.in the new properties window which opens select "internet protocol version 4(TCP/ipv4)" & then click on properties tab below.select "use following ip address" & enter ip as 192.168.1.4,subnet as 255.255.255.0 & gateway as 192.168.1.1 & leave dns as blank.select apply/ok.

It is same as you have given above. But still the problem persists.

I also tried several times by disabling and enabling the internet but it also did'nt worked. But it showed a strange thing, when I enable the internet, it shows "cable unplugged" and then after few seconds it shows "unknown network" as given under:

now post your modem lan settings page screenshot.before doing that also check if dhcp is enabled in modem settings(mostly on by default).before doing that set ip settings in pc again to auto(after you have changed to 192.168.1.x like in 1st pic above).now run ipconfig /all again & this time you should get a 192.168.1.x ip instead of 169.254.x.x in 2nd pic above.
