HI,
I need a suggestion about a motherboard for Intel 478 pin CPUs offering best onboard graphics and an AGP port...
I already have

I recently went to Nehru Place in Delhi and to my surprise socket 478 mobos are out of stock!! Man in a place like Nehru Place it was weird...
You most probably won't get a new mobo for socket 478 cpu. Since the mrkt is flooded with LGA 775 sockets which support C2D
I was lucky to get a 2nd hand GIGABYTE mobo and its perfectly fine.

Mobo: GIGABYTE 82845GE RZ
Spec: Supports HT technology socket 478 CPU.
3 memory modules capacity.
AGP 8x slot.

cost : Rs 1.7K with 8 months warranty.

Try searching a lot before you get your choice of mobo.. Best of Luck

hey a 2.6 Ghz cpu is not bad to work upon.. I think its the user's choice to move on to other socket type by extending the budget..

well , when u get to work on vista , then u will come to know that wat's bad & wat's good,

I still don't think 2.66 Ghz is less to run Vista.. As more of its components are dependent on GFX memory

thabks guys 4 ur help..
It's a P4 2.8 GHz, very good CPU still.
BTW I am gonna buy mobo only, no upgrade to AM2, as the main intention of this mobo is to sit in office and run Tally, MS Office etc.

Peace

i think Ghz does not matter its the performance, i came across a system at a store which was running vista with celeron 3 Ghz and 1Gb+ ram
And its rating was '1'

Liggy

Is actually a real word..
So I don't understand, what's the verdict what should Ashnik buy. I too would like to upgrade my board. actually I tried that awhile ago bought a $40 SIS board on ebay and had it crap out on me in two months. my sys is basically the same. Mine is missing the AGP slot, hence why I want a different board (use it for ACAD and the odd game). have 2.6 Ghz,768 MB DDR 333. we are just simply lookin for a board.
