Use SATA to IDE converted. Motherboards with IDE was dead a long ago.
I think it could be still cheaper if you would go for an Nvidia chipset motherboard.
However, since your problem lies in the HDD connector, I'd say buy the mobo and a new HDD or a second hand SATA HDD. In any case, even with the complete upgrade, you'll have to buy the HDD cuz no motherboards have IDE ports these days.
