Mobile-Simcard Problem

I have NEC International's C616 (imported) mobile, and a Bsnl Student Sim Card.

But the Sim Card Doesn't works with this mob. I works with other mobse.g Nokia ,Motorola,....

Also The Problem is only with Student scheme cards, other normal cards work,.e.g other bsnl cards, hutch, Airtel, Idea,..

When I insert this ,"Unable to recognize the Sim Card" Comes.
What's the prob?

Umm very strange indeed, y dont u just call up the bsnl and ask them if the sim is compatible with their mob?

we tried that too, every other Sim except the student scheme one works in my mob, and my Sim card works in any other indian mob.

Cant even ask for another handset to test, someone may or maynot have it.
